That said, understanding how IG\u2019s algorithms work can help you execute an effective posting strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing to know is that Instagram breaks their algorithms into one of three categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"list-c10d553\" class=\"list-ca64b0f\"><ul><li><strong>Feed &amp; Stories<\/strong> &#8211; IG wants users to connect with those whom they feel most connected to in real life. That means that one\u2019s Feed and Stories tend to show content from their friends and family. A user\u2019s views and engagement alert the algorithm that they prefer a certain person\u2019s content over others, even if that person isn\u2019t strictly friends or family.<\/li><li><strong>Explore<\/strong> &#8211; IG notes a person\u2019s behavior in Feed and Stories to show other posts they may also like from non-followed accounts. This encourages users to engage and follow accounts they may not have heard of.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Reels<\/strong> &#8211; IG states that it\u2019s goal with short-form videos (Reels) is to entertain users. Start posting &#8211; then evaluate post performance.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll never have all the data you need to be perfect, so at some point, you just need to publish your first batch of posts.
